At its 18th meeting (CoP18, 2019), CITES Conference of the Parties adopted Decisions Decisions 18.140 to 18.143 and 16.58 (Rev. CoP18) on Identification of timber and other wood products.

Decision 18.142 instructs the CITES Secretariat to, inter alia, liaise with IAWA and other organizations having relevant expertise on timber identification, to identify shared priorities, including priority species, emerging techniques, standardized procedures, and collection and sharing of wood samples applicable to timber tracking tools.

For the purpose of this, the Secretariat has developed a questionnaire, which we would appreciate IAWA (through its areas with relevant expertise) to complete and submit by 29 May 2020 at isabel.camarena@un.org
