One of these days the World Wood Day Foundation and International Wood Culture Society are launching the International Journal of Wood Culture ( IJWC) to be published on-line in Open Access and in hard copy by Brill (
www.Brill.com/ijwc). The Journal will accept papers on all aspects of wood and other plant materials such as bamboo, rattan, and bark and their role in art, culture and society in past, present and future: in building and architecture, in music, arts and crafts, in religion and custom, in transportation and sport, or in providing sustainable alternatives to construction and manufacturing materials. Editor-in-Chief is Harvey Green. IAWA has been closely collaborating with the International Wood Culture Society, with IAWA members in prominent roles on the editorial board and as special advisors of IJWC (Pieter Baas, Michael Grabner, Mechtild Mertz and Takao Itoh). The first volume contains 12 papers on a wide and attractive diversity of wood culture subjects.
