The xylarium (MERw) was founded in 1959, and has about 20,000 specimens covering about 3,000 species and 1,000 genera. The wood collections come from different countries of the world, but specializes in woods from Venezuela.

The xylarium (RBw) was founded in 1959 and contains 8,000 specimens of 1,100 genera and 30,000 microscope slides. The wood collections are specified in Atlantic Rain Forest of Brazil, and the computer database are available on website: http://www.jbrj.gov.br/.

Xiloteca SPSFw, Instituto de Florestal de Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo
